Academics
The school’s aim is to help each student earn a high school education, develop employability skills, and gain skills training to feel equipped to pursue future education or secure gainful employment. We expand our students’ horizons and develop their potential, so they are built for what’s possible.
Mental Toughness
All students engage in a week of Mental Toughness at the start of each trimester, which includes team building, diversity training, physical exercise, mental readiness instruction, and presentations by outside agencies. The purpose of Mental Toughness is to develop self-discipline and positive self-image.
Curriculum
Our curriculum is aligned with the Pennsylvania Student State Standards and benchmarks. Students benefit from lessons developed from the Pennsylvania Common Core. With no more than 15 students per class, our young adults receive the individualized attention and support they need to succeed in obtaining their high school diploma and advancing to post-secondary education or employment.
Teachers and case managers work together to ensure our students are cared for and engaged in their learning. Support services include ELL and ELS services, counseling, mentoring, and tutoring.
Certifications
As a YouthBuild affiliate, the Crispus Attucks Charter School provides several certification training programs in addition to the general education requirements for earning a high school diploma. All training programs focus on building transferrable professional skills and habits that will lead to success in post-secondary education and employment.
Focus Student Information System
Students and parents can use this system to track grades and attendance. Students will be provided with Focus username and password by our staff to log into the portal. If you are a parent, please visit the “Additional Parent Resources” section of our website for instructions on creating a Focus account.
